Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–3 pm. It is closed on Tuesday. San Francisco is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Francisco is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

How did I not find this place sooner? It’s a tasty, visually pleasing, and active dining experience. Our group came in for a foggy, cozy Sunday lunch before the church crowd. We ordered the tomato fish, sichuan beef, and original YunNan noodle bowls. We were delighted with the bridge of ingredients that you can personally add to your hot soup and noodles. I loved my original YunNan bone broth flavor that tasted clean and flavorful. Service is quick and kind. Decor really emphasizes the YunNan culture and they have custom wooden benches. Check this place out if you’re on Balboa!

This place is absolutely incredible. Great if you’re gluten free also. Pickled cabbage soup was delicious, the broth and the meat/sides were all so rich and good. Big portions as well.

I ordered the wild mushroom confit salad and the passionfruit drink, both were amazing! This is my first time having such authentic Yunnan dishes. The drink was especially impressive. The owner used to run a boba shop, and you can really tell from the taste

Very welcoming atmosphere with friendly and kind staff. The popcorn chicken had a savoury crisp that made it extremely delectable. The flavours were very unique and the dishes were well plated. Coming from Canada, this shop has a very hearty broth with wide selection of add in ingredients. It is difficult to find such a well crafted and unique flavors in my own area. Will make sure to return the next time I visit SF!

I had the Sichuan spicy rice noodles soup with brisket and extra sliced meat. It was good. However, too heavy with cumin. Also, it was not spicy enough even though it has 3 chilly peppers next to it. The addons on the crossing bridge was a nice presentation, but not necessary since you dump everything into the soup. I also ordered garlic mushroom salad, and that was delicious. For a drink, I had honey peach green tea with Lychee jelly. It was a little too sweet for me. I would repeat though with another soup base in hope that it does not have cumin.
